Malaysia has taken a step forward in advancing digital inclusion with the launch of the Next Gen TeenXChange and Game Changers Coalition Program, a pioneering initiative by UNICEF, in partnership with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and supported by Micron Technology Malaysia as well as Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).

MDEC said in a statement on last Thursday that the program affirms the government’s firm commitment to creating inclusive digital opportunities for girls and young women.

Integrated within UNICEF’s global Skills4Girls framework, the Next Gen TeenXChange is designed to address the gender disparity in both gaming and the broader STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

The program equips Malaysian girls with technical skills, industry exposure, and building confidence – enabling them to succeed as coders, designers, content creators, and future tech innovators.

“The Ministry, through MDEC is committed to building an inclusive digital nation. We are working to ensure that all Malaysians have access to the digital tools and platforms they need to succeed,

“These initiatives are part of a broader national movement – one that seeks to build digital confidence, nurture innovation, and open new doors for women and girls to define success on their own terms,” said Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital Malaysia.
