Princeton Digital Group (PDG), the Singapore-based data center provider, announced Thursday its partnership with Flexidao and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), one of India’s largest renewable energy companies, to pioneer the implementation of time-matched, carbon-free energy (CFE) consumption at its 150MW MU1 data center in Mumbai.

This marks an important step toward achieving 24/7 carbon-free operations in India, PDG said in a statement.

This initiative is the first-of-its-kind in India’s data center sector, setting a new benchmark for granular clean energy tracking and transparency.

While conventional systems validate renewable use on a monthly cycle, Flexidao’s platform enables PDG to match its Mumbai data center’s consumption with renewable generation from its Tata Power Solar PPA on an hourly basis.

By aligning electricity consumption with renewable energy generation, PDG is advancing toward a reliable, round-the-clock clean energy supply for its operations, supporting both its Net Zero commitments and India’s broader decarbonization goals.

“The implementation of time-matched carbon-free energy at our Mumbai campus marks an important step forward for PDG and for sustainable digital infrastructure in India,

“Through our collaboration with Flexidao, we’re proud to be among the early adopters of time-matched clean energy at scale,” said Varoon Raghavan, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of PDG.

“This initiative reflects our conviction that innovation and sustainability should go hand in hand, underscoring our ongoing efforts to support India’s clean energy transition while delivering high-performance, artificial intelligence (AI)-ready data centers,” he added.

To achieve time-matched carbon-free energy at MU1, PDG leveraged Flexidao’s platform to develop a scalable infrastructure for granular energy data management.

This included automating meter data collection, aligning consumption with renewable generation under its supply contract, and verifying hourly matching claims by streamlining the management of renewable energy proof of purchase, guided by global standards such as EnergyTag.

Flexidao’s clean energy intelligence platform and advisory support were instrumental in streamlining data processes and strengthening PDG’s internal capabilities for long-term energy strategy.

“PDG’s proactive approach to time-matched clean energy sets a new benchmark for the industry in the region and helps others to follow suit,

“Flexidao is proud to support this milestone with our technology and advisory expertise, enabling advanced clean energy intelligence and carbon accounting that help corporate buyers like PDG achieve their clean energy goals at scale and reduce operational costs,” said Simone Accornero, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Flexidao.

As the renewable energy supplier, TPREL, enabled the delivery of clean energy aligned with PDG’s hourly consumption needs.

“We are proud to support PDG in this pioneering initiative in India which showcases the potential of renewable energy to power India’s digital future round-the clock,

“This project reflects our commitment to delivering innovative, scalable clean energy solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Sanjay Banga, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited.

The implementation reinforces PDG’s leadership in sustainable digital infrastructure across Asia Pacific and sets a precedent for AI-ready, low-carbon data centers, said the statement.
