Singaporean transport group ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited has tied up with Chinese autonomous mobility technology company Pony.ai to expand its autonomous vehicle (AV) offerings with the launch of its autonomous shuttle service in Singapore.

ComfortDelGro said in a statement on last Saturday that the service is scheduled to begin operations in Punggol in early 2026, offering an additional transport option that complements the existing public transport infrastructure in the area.

Members of the public can book these driverless rides on the ComfortDelGro Zig app when the service begins.

The autonomous shuttle service represents a significant milestone in Singapore’s autonomous vehicle journey and will operate on fixed routes connecting key destinations including residential areas, transport hubs, and community facilities within Punggol.

“This program leverages ComfortDelGro’s unique position as a strong infrastructure and fleet management expert with successful AV trials,

“Through our AV pilot with Pony.ai in Guangzhou, China, and several AV shuttle operating routes in Singapore, we have built comprehensive real-world AV operational capabilities, including fleet management, safety management systems, remote operator functions as well as a training and development pipeline,” said SK Cheng, Managing Director/Group Chief Executive Officer of ComfortDelGro.

“This program also presents exciting career opportunities that will help attract younger talent to the transport industry,

“Our learnings enable us to deliver innovative, safe, and reliable services while ensuring a responsible transition for our workforce and industry,” he added.

ComfortDelGro and Pony.ai’s autonomous shuttles will feature advanced sensor fusion systems, including LiDAR, radar, and cameras, supported by high-precision mapping with centimeter-level accuracy.

The vehicles undergo rigorous testing protocols, including extensive validation across diverse scenarios and real-world trials, before deployment.

Each vehicle is equipped with comprehensive safety systems including obstacle detection, emergency braking protocols, and redundant safety measures.

The autonomous shuttle program in Punggol will operate with trained safety operators, leveraging ComfortDelGro’s expertise in developing human-machine interaction protocols and safety procedures which has been refined through the Guangzhou pilot and other AV operations in Singapore.
