UiPath, a global enterprise automation and artificial intelligence (AI) software company, has announced its partnership with The Bank of East Asia, Limited (BEA) to scale the use of UiPath enterprise automation solutions as part of the bank’s digital transformation strategy.

UiPath said in a statement on Wednesday that BEA is the first financial services institution in Hong Kong to cooperate with UiPath, having adopted UiPath enterprise automation solutions since 2018 to enhance operational efficiency and customer engagement capabilities.

Adopting UiPath enterprise automation solutions has helped the bank save over 553,000 hours in processing time, resulting in enhanced productivity.

Currently, BEA has 77 attended automations, saving 29,000 hours annually for the bank.

The implementation also facilitates more precise risk control and mitigation for BEA.

In addition, BEA leverages UiPath solutions in the user acceptance test (UAT) of the corporate digital channel system to set up test data.

Previously, configuring test data for UAT presented a heavy workload for the development team.

With UiPath robotic process automation (RPA), the team has developed its own robotic processes to automatically generate customer records for testing purposes.

This automation reduces the average test data setup time from 20 minutes to just 1 minute, significantly improving team efficiency and reducing error rates.

“Our collaboration with UiPath has been supporting and facilitating our bank’s digital transformation,

“With operational efficiency largely boosted through automation, we have laid a solid foundation for BEA to develop additional digital capabilities, optimize internal process, and deliver seamless services both within and outside the bank,” said Stephen Leung, Group Chief Information Officer, General Manager and Head of Technology and Productivity Division, BEA.

Disaree Wong, Regional Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong and China, UiPath, said BEA has been a tremendous example of how enterprises can successfully integrate
automation to accelerate digital transformation.

“As financial institutions move towards a digital-first future, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with BEA on this transformative journey,” she added.
